| 1 | Hallas the Oathkeeper, an old knight of the Citadel, keeps his post in the Keep of Minas Tirith and watches an eastern sky that has shown him nothing for years. He had me swear the oath of the West out loud on the wall, in the wind, where anyone might hear it -- that, he says, is the whole point of an oath. He has given me a Token of the White Tree to keep where I can feel it. | 3 | final | At the fifteenth level I brought the Sealed Oath of Fealty back to Hallas the Oathkeeper with the wax unbroken. He did not read it. He took it to a smith in the second circle who owed him an old favour, and it is closed now into the pommel of the Sword of the Oathsworn -- plain Gondorian steel, and my own oath inside it where I cannot set it down without noticing. I have kept the first of the oath of the West.
