A mantle of undyed wool in the grey-white of the Tree in flower, clasped with a plain disc of silver bearing no device -- the Champions say the shield is the device, and it rides the other arm. The chaplains of Minas Tirith lay it on those whose vow was renewed at the Altar of the Istari: sworn before the White Tree, keeping the vigil shield on arm, standing between the faithful and what comes. Halmir the Grey gave it over when the oath-light was laid in his hand -- the token of those the orders call Divine Champions, whose page he keeps near the top of the roll, where the light falls.
